Aqua Society to equip four agricultural cogeneration units with energy modules

Reporting from its head office in Herten, Germany, Aqua Society GmbH has announced that it has received an order from an agricultural business in the Viersen district for the supply of four energy modules which are to be connected to an existing complex of cogeneration units.

The energy modules have a thermal output of 500 kW each. The cogeneration units in which the modules are to be used supply electricity which can be sold at a premium under Germany's renewable energy legislation (EEG) in that the plant uses renewable materials as fuel. The new technology represented by the modules generates additional energy from the cooling water and the smoke gas, which will give a major boost to the overall power volume generated by the plant. Each of the energy modules consists of a low-pressure expansion unit, a generator, the power input and a cooling tower. The modules will be set up in a building constructed specially for the overall project.

Carbon-dioxide free electricity production from waste heat reduces energy costs

With these energy modules Aqua Society provides a technical process which generates CO 2 -free electricity from exhaust heat at temperatures from 80°C in a sustainable and efficient way, using a specially designed low-pressure expansion unit. The energy module can be used wherever continuous exhaust heat is produced by conventional power generation or by industrial production processes. So far this waste heat has generally been allowed to escape unused into the air. Areas of application for such CO 2 -free power generation include biogas power stations, which also have considerable exhaust heat volumes.
